A Ukrainian F-16 fighter pilot spoke about the Ukrainian Defense Forces' interception of American aircraft, noting that more than 80% of the missiles we fired reach their target. F-16s are used to repel russian attacks - shoot down Shaheds and missiles, as well as for flights to defeat the enemy.
He said this in an interview, the Ukrainian Air Forces reported.
Thus, the F-16 fighter pilot, whose name and call sign are not disclosed for security reasons, said that almost every day "not one or two" flights are carried out to defeat the enemy behind the line of combat contact, on the territory of the russian federation, as well as in temporarily occupied territories.
"Some of the forces are allocated to cover these, so to speak, "packages", as we call them," he added.
In addition, flights are being carried out to cover other combat brothers - MiG-29, Su-27, Su-24, Su-25.
"Now we have received such a good reinforcement in the form of French aircraft, which also help us a lot. We can say that aviation is reaching the desired level - the level that we saw abroad when we trained there," the pilot shared.
He said that combat duty is carried out 24/7 at designated airfields and operational airfields. According to him, this network is currently very developed and there are almost no points that cannot be covered.
"We do not have the desired number of these forces and ground means to repel massive strikes, we operate in places where they simply cannot cover," the pilot explained.
He added that the effectiveness of the use of Western equipment by the Ukrainian Defense Forces – both ground and air – is very high.
"Almost every missile hits its target. … It's not 4 out of 8, it's more than 80% of the missiles we launch hit their target. And they destroy both Shaheds and cruise missiles – sea-based, air-based, and land-based," he said.
The serviceman explained that the targets are known in advance. He noted that "our intelligence works quite well – even though the media has been spreading the word that we don't receive any intelligence data."
"We can say that our intelligence forces are adapting very quickly, we receive up-to-date data," he said.
The pilot added: "Currently, we can only strike at tactical depth, but the effectiveness of these strikes is very high: if we want, our bomb will fly into someone's window."
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 19, a number of russian Telegram channels published unconfirmed information that the russian army's air defense system allegedly shot down a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet. The Air Forces denied the russian fake.
