Two fighters from China serve in the ranks of the unmanned systems battalion of the 110th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They decided to fight russian aggression and plan their future life in Ukraine.
This was reported by the brigade's press service.
The 42-year-old fighter with the call sign "Tima" in China was an electrical engineer and was engaged in the design of automobile chassis. He arrived in Ukraine in July 2023 to volunteer after the russians blew up the Kakhovka HEPP dam.
Meanwhile, the serviceman "Ivor" has worked in the construction sector for 45 years. In Ukraine since September 2024 - initially he came to Odesa, and then moved to Lviv, to Kyiv.
"I saw many consequences of the war. I felt that this war of aggression is very unjust. We should not put up with dictatorship and aggression, we should protect peace," Ivor explained.
Speaking about the cultural and historical aspect, Tima noted that the Chinese understand the differences between russia and Ukraine, despite the fact that up to 10 years they only knew about the existence of the USSR. In particular, that Ukraine is historically older and the culture comes from Kyivan Rus.
"I have not been to russia and have not communicated with russians. But I believe that aggression is wrong, and everyone loves peace. And this means that russians are aggressors, so I did not have any favorable impression of them," Ivor explained his position.
"80 years ago in China, we also experienced a very painful invasion. Many Chinese were killed, but the Chinese people united and fought against the Japanese invaders. Now Ukraine is also suffering from an unjust invasion, and the Ukrainian people are defending their land, freedom and dignity. As a Chinese, I think I must do everything I can for this country, for this just world," Tima said.
They said that they communicate with their comrades and commanders in English, with the help of a translator on the phone, as well as with gestures. The servicemen also shared the learned Ukrainian words: "good morning", "good night", "bye", "tasty", "milk", "thank you".
The fighters plan to stay and live in Ukraine in the future.
