In the large prayer hall of the central synagogue of Kyiv, the Brodsky synagogue, all seats are named and assigned to specific people. Among them are the seats of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was stated by the first official rabbi of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Davyd Milman, in a commentary to DW.
The chair of the President of Ukraine is in the first rows and is located on the right edge. At the same time, Milman emphasizes that other visitors to the religious institution can also sit in this place.
"When there is no owner, anyone can sit here," the rabbi explains.

As is known, in 2020, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with The Times of Israel that he did not grow up in an Orthodox, but in an "ordinary Soviet Jewish family." Zelenskyy noted that "most Jewish families in the Soviet Union were not religious and there was no religion in the Soviet state as such."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also visited the memorial annually on the anniversary of the tragedy to honor the memory of the victims of Babyn Yar in Kyiv.
