Although in the summer of 2024, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law on the abolition of clock changes, it never came into force. According to the final provisions of the law, the clock changes were to cease on January 1, 2025.
In July, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law that would have maintained “winter time” in Ukraine without a subsequent transition to “summer time.”
However, the adoption of the law by parliament is not enough for it to start working. The Constitution stipulates that the law must be signed by the President and published in Holos Ukrainy, the official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada.
As of March 24, the law still has the status of “sent for signature to the President.”
Only after signing and publication does the law enter into force, which did not happen with the law on the abolition of clock changes.
In six days - on Sunday, March 30, 2025 (at 3 am), the clocks will need to be set forward 1 hour - for daylight saving time.
In the event of a sudden signing of the law, which has not happened since August 21, 2024 (when the law was sent to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for signature), the agency will report this.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, BBC Ukraine reported in October 2024, citing sources in the presidential team, that Zelenskyy did not plan to sign the bill that would cancel the further seasonal setting of the clocks after the transition to winter time.
