President Zelenskyy signs law on increasing excise tax on tobacco products – MP Zhelezniak

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed bill No. 11090 on increasing the excise tax on tobacco products, which was expected from December 2024.

Yaroslav Zhelezniak, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, has reported this on Telegram.

The Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 11090 in its entirety back on December 4, 2024, after which it was sent for signature to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Zhelezniak, the bill has now been signed by the President.

"It has not been published yet, but I already have confirmation of the fact from two sources "from international financial institutions" and the government," the parliamentarian reported.

He added that the failure to sign the bill from December 2024 cost the budget UAH 2,091.6 million in underpayments.

Immediately after the President signs it, says Zhelezniak, cigarette prices could increase by UAH 40 per pack.
