The premier of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Manuela Schwesig, has ruled out the resumption of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The facility was never put into operation due to the russian federation's war against Ukraine and the explosion.
This was reported by the N-tv broadcaster's portal.
The official stressed that Germany has a clear rule that has been in effect from the very beginning. It reads as follows: Nord Stream 2 will not be certified if russia crosses the red line. According to Schwesig, by starting the war, russia crossed this line.
"Russia has largely crossed a red line with its war of aggression against Ukraine. This threatens the entire peace in Europe. And I believe that is why such signals should not be sent in our time under any circumstances," she said.
By signals, Schwesig was referring to media reports and speculation that American businessmen could rebuild the gas pipeline together with russia.
