The opening of the Velyka Palad - Nagyhódos checkpoint with Hungary for passenger cars is planned in early April.
The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"We plan to open the Velyka Palad - Nagyhódos checkpoint with Hungary in early April! Currently, the construction of the checkpoint on temporary (modular) infrastructure is being completed. The designated checkpoint will be for passenger cars up to 3.5 tons, and will operate during the day," the message says.

It is noted that the temporary infrastructure has been installed on both the Hungarian and Ukrainian sides, customs and border services will work there.
Work on expanding the site and section of the road has also been completed, and traffic directions have been arranged.
Currently, the connection to the necessary communications (water and electricity supply, Internet), barriers are being installed.

The opening of this checkpoint was agreed in April last year.
It is noted that the construction of the Velyka Palad checkpoint corresponds to the Strategy for the Development and Expansion of Border Infrastructure until 2030, approved by the government last year.
The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories notes that in December last year, the Luzhanka - Beregsurány checkpoint with Hungary became available for empty trucks weighing over 7.5 tons. Currently, with the support of international partners, the arrangement of road infrastructure is underway at this checkpoint.
In total, there are 5 automobile checkpoints operating with Hungary, the largest of which is Chop - Záhony, which is the only one intended for the crossing of trucks weighing over 7.5 tons traveling with goods.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to open a new checkpoint on the Velyka Palad - Nagyhódos border with Hungary, which will operate for passenger cars.
The Cabinet of Ministers expects that the opening of this checkpoint will help reduce queues and speed up border crossing for citizens.
