Units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, on the night of March 20 struck the Engels airfield in the Saratov Oblast of the aggressor country of russia.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that a fire, explosions and secondary detonation of ammunition were recorded in the area of the airfield.
This military facility is used by the occupation forces' aviation, in particular, to launch missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine and terrorist attacks against civilians.
Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council Andrii Kovalenko reported on the Telegram channel that the russians lost missiles, including Kh-101, at Engels as a result of the strike, the number will be known later.
Kovalenko noted that this airfield stores the largest number of missiles used by strategic aviation to strike Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, russian Telegram channels reported that early in the morning of March 20, explosions were heard in the Saratov Oblast of the russian federation - unknown drones attacked an oil refinery in the city of Engels, local residents reported a fire near the oil depot.
Russian Telegram channels also write that, according to unconfirmed reports, a military airfield was attacked, and residents living near the military airfield in Engels began to be evacuated.
