Two hospitals in Sumy Region damaged by drone attack

On the night of March 19, russian occupiers again attacked the Sumy Region with drones, and two medical facilities were damaged as a result of enemy strikes: Sumy Regional Clinical Hospital and Krasnopil Hospital.

This was announced by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the State Emergency Service and the Sumy Regional Military Administration in the Telegram messenger, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the investigation, on March 18, at about 10:30 p.m., the occupiers attacked a hospital in Sumy with a drone.

There were 22 employees and 147 patients in the facility, including those with reduced mobility.

As a result of the attack, the building caught fire.

Rescuers quickly eliminated the detected fire sources and evacuated 147 patients, 9 of whom were citizens with reduced mobility.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration clarified that a russian drone fell on the roof of the regional clinical hospital.

There were no killed or injured.

In addition, at night, russian troops launched 7 strikes on a medical facility in the Krasnopil community.

"Two enemy drones attacked the building, causing a fire. Rescuers quickly arrived at the scene and began extinguishing the fire. At the same time, patients and medical personnel were evacuated to a shelter. During the rescue operation, the enemy launched 5 more repeated strikes," the State Emergency Service said.

The shelter was partially destroyed, in which 22 patients were trapped, including 7 with reduced mobility.

Thanks to the professional actions of rescuers, everyone was quickly freed and transferred to a safe place.

There were no civilian casualties.

In total, 60 people were evacuated.

As a result of the russian attack, the hospital premises suffered significant damage.

A fire truck was also damaged.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of Wednesday, March 19, russian troops launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, and 145 strike drones into Ukraine. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 72 drones, and another 56 UAVs did not reach their targets (lost in location).
