President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the military leadership of Ukraine have the so-called "combat immunity", which relieves them of responsibility for decisions made on the battlefield.
Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, has stated this on Radio Svoboda.
He recalled that after the start of the full-scale invasion of the aggressor country russia, a law was adopted that grants military leaders "combat immunity".
According to him, this law deprived the military leadership of legal responsibility for decisions made on the battlefield.
"Because if now we blame every military leader for some failures on the front, then there will be few who will be ready to give orders at all, and war inevitably involves losses among people, among equipment," Venislavskyi said.
At the same time, he emphasized that key decisions about the army's actions on the battlefield are made by the military.
"I am convinced that the president, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, evaluates and makes some decisions, but I do not think that the president directly insisted that it be this way," the MP added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 13, members of the Verkhovna Rada refused to summon the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, to the National Security Committee due to the situation in the Kursk Oblast.
