Interpipe pipe and wheel holding intends to supply wheels for passenger trains to Europe.
This is stated in the company's post on its Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Having a development strategy for 2032, Interpipe has set itself the goal of entering and growing in the European passenger wheel market. This is a rather non-trivial task, because this segment is even more technological than the freight segment," said Oleksandr Harkavyi, director of the railway products division during the Exporters Summit-2025, organized by Forbes Ukraine.
The report states that the European freight wheel market is familiar to Interpipe.
The company supplies railway products to all European countries, and two out of three freight wagons in the European Union are equipped with wheels made in Ukraine.
It is noted that Interpipe already has successful experience in supplying passenger wheels for Deutsche Bahn high-speed trains.
“Each passenger train has its own wheel design, each national railway operator in Europe has its own standards in addition to the general European ones, and the certification process in global railcar manufacturing corporations such as Siemens, Alstom, Stadler is difficult and lengthy,” Harkavyi added.
Unlike its competitors, the company has its own steel production and is the most efficient manufacturer in terms of reducing CO2 emissions and reducing the carbon footprint of railway products.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early February, Interpipe shipped 10,000 railway wheels for the Indian state-owned enterprise Indian Railways, which operates the entire railway network in India.
Interpipe is the largest manufacturer of pipes and wheels in Ukraine, controlling the Nyzhniodniprovskyi Pipe Rolling Plant, Novomoskovsk Pipe Plant and Nikopol Seamless Pipe Plant Niko Tube (all in the Dnipropetrovsk Region).
In October 2012, Interpipe put into operation the steelmaking complex Interpipe Steel.
The owner of Interpipe is businessman Viktor Pinchuk.
