South Korea and Ukraine discuss repatriation of North Korean prisoners of war

On Monday, March 17, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and his South Korean counterpart Cho Tae-yul held a telephone conversation to discuss the repatriation of North Korean prisoners of war.

Yonhap reported this with reference to the South Korean Foreign Ministry.

Thus, Sybiha discussed with Cho the fate of two North Korean servicemen who were captured by Ukraine.

Cho told Sybiha that the captured soldiers are considered citizens of South Korea according to the country's Constitution, and he would accept their desertion if they expressed such an intention.

As Reuters adds, Cho confirmed South Korea's efforts to support the Ukrainian people.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informed that the aggressor country russia is using either its own weapons or weapons of North Korean origin in the war against Ukraine, and there are almost no Iranian ones.
