Ukraine has agreed with Finland on defense cooperation, in particular on information exchange, strengthening defense capabilities and interoperability.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has reported this on his page on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Another important step is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation. The document defines the key areas of our joint work," he said.
In particular, according to him, the document provides for:
deepening strategic dialogue between defense agencies;
exchange of information at the strategic, operational and tactical levels;
strengthening defense capabilities and interoperability;
developing cooperation in the field of defense technologies, research and innovation;
expanding the production of ammunition and defense-industrial projects in Ukraine and Finland.
Umerov noted that Finland is a reliable partner of Ukraine, which makes a significant contribution to strengthening the security not only of Ukraine, but also of the whole of Europe. He said that he had a meaningful meeting with the Minister of Defense of Finland, Antti Häkkänen, in Helsinki.
Umerov reported that Finland continues to systematically support Ukraine and announced a new package of military assistance for EUR 200 million, this is the 28th support package, which strengthens the defense capability and enhances the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In addition, the Finnish government has launched a program for 660 million euros, within the framework of this initiative, military equipment will be purchased directly from the Finnish defense industry for transfer to Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the President of Finland Alexander Stubb reported that Finland and Norway are participating in supporting the preparation of a peace plan for Ukraine.
