Currently, work is underway to ensure that men abroad whose passports are expiring can obtain new documents without the mandatory requirement to provide military registration documents.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov stated this to journalists on Wednesday, March 13, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"I am glad that we managed to unblock all this (the receipt of previously issued passports by men abroad). Today, out of 80,000 passports, the majority have already been issued, and the rest will be received by the end of the month," he said.
At the same time, Chernyshov said that his goal is to change the resolution that restricts the issuance of passports abroad for a number of other categories of men.
"To provide an opportunity for Ukrainian men, for those who need it: for those whose passports are expiring. He is, say, in the Czech Republic, he is a man, his passport is expiring, he comes to the Document State Enterprise, and they tell him: provide military documents... And he finds himself in the status of a person with an expired passport in another country... Now we are working together to still give them passports, I am for the liberalization of this block," he added.
The minister stressed that the current ban does not work to return men from abroad.
"What do we gain? We gain nothing," he emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to Oleksii Chernyshov, 40% of Ukrainians who left abroad due to full-scale russian aggression are considering the possibility of returning to Ukraine after the war ends.
