Russian troops are strengthening their positions in the Kursk Oblast and are preparing to attack the city of Sudzha in the near future.
This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to analysts, geolocation footage from March 10 indicates the advance of russian units into the central part of Martynovka, located northeast of Sudzha. It is likely that it is from there that the russian troops plan to launch an offensive. According to ISW, units of the 44th Army Corps and the 1434th Akhmat-Chechnya Regiment are participating in it.
Russian military bloggers claim that the russian army has already captured a number of settlements near Sudzha, including Agronom, Kolmakov, Mikhailovka, Bogdanovka, Mirny and Kozacha Lozhka. At the same time, ISW has not found confirmation of these statements. In addition, the russian army is attacking the outskirts of Sudzha, in particular Ivashkivske, Dmytryukove, Melovo and Huyevo. Marine units and up to two battalions of North Korean soldiers are involved in the fighting.
Ukraine is strengthening its defense in this direction. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk and Sumy Regions are being reinforced with additional drones and electronic warfare equipment.
Andrii Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, noted that the Ukrainian military is repelling attacks in the Novenke and Zhuravka areas, located northeast of Sumy. He also reported that the russian troops are trying to cut the main supply line of the Ukrainian forces along the N-07 Sumy - Sudzha highway.
Despite the active actions of the occupiers, according to Demchenko, the russian troops currently do not have enough resources to conduct large-scale offensive operations in northern Ukraine.
As a reminder, on March 10, 140 combat clashes took place at the front, with the enemy attacking most frequently in the Lyman (22 clashes) and Pokrovsk (21) Axes.
