Air defense downed cruise missile and 79 drones at night

On the night of Saturday, March 8, russian troops launched 3 missiles of various types and 145 strike UAVs over the territory of Ukraine, air defense forces managed to shoot down a cruise missile and 79 drones, 54 UAVs did not reach their targets (lost in location).

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that on March 8 (from 08:00 pm on March 7), the enemy attacked with two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and one Iskander-K cruise missile from the Rostov Oblast of the russian federation, as well as 145 Shahed strike UAVs and simulator drones of various types from the directions of Millerovo, Kursk, Shatalovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk - the russian federation, Chauda - the TOT of Crimea.

"As of 09:00 am, the downing of an Iskander-K cruise missile and 79 Shahed strike UAVs and drones of other types has been confirmed in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Mykolaiv and Odesa Regions. 54 enemy simulator drones were lost in location (without negative consequences)," the message says.

The Donetsk, Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy and Odesa Regions were affected by the enemy attack.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of March 6, the russian army launched two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and 112 strike drones over Ukraine, air defense forces managed to shoot down 68 drones, another 43 drones did not reach their targets (lost in location). According to the Air Force, French fighters, who arrived in Ukraine only a month ago, took part in repelling an enemy air attack on March 6 for the first time.
