Europe responds with "dead silence" to question of whether it will be able to compensate Ukraine for US military aid

Representatives of European countries were unable to answer the question of whether Europe will be able to replace or somehow compensate for the reduction in US military aid to Ukraine.

This was reported by Politico.

According to an unnamed EU representative, the question was asked the day before by Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal.

During closed discussions, Michal asked his European colleagues whether they would be able to cope with supporting Ukraine without US help.

According to a Politico source, the answer to Michal's question "was a dead silence."

The publication writes that US President Donald Trump's decree on freezing military aid to Ukraine has left a "gaping hole" in the ability to support Kyiv in all aspects of its war. This especially applies to the provision of intelligence information.

Former British Army intelligence officer Philip Ingram told Politico that EU countries lack a great deal of strategic intelligence.

"Countries like Germany are completely dependent on NATO. Now they have to step up, but it will take decades and hundreds of millions of dollars," Ingram said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 4, US President Trump ordered the suspension of military aid to Ukraine in response to his public argue with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

And on March 5, it became known that Trump's decree extends to the exchange of intelligence with Ukraine, which allowed it to more effectively confront the russian army.

On March 6, Trump's Special Envoy to russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, admitted that the US had suspended military aid to Ukraine in order to force it to sign a mineral agreement.
