Shmyhal is confident that US support will continue

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is confident that US support for Ukraine will continue.

Shmyhal said this during a press conference on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the government's work, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Shmyhal thanked the US, which has supported and continues to support Ukraine with everything it needs over the past three years: money, sanctions, weapons, political support.

"Regarding the discussions on the possibility of terminating (US aid), we will absolutely calmly continue our work with the US, with the US Congress, the Trump administration, and with President Trump through all available and accessible diplomatic channels so that Ukraine and the US continue our struggle for a just, lasting, and stable peace in Ukraine and on the European continent. And today, Ukraine is absolutely determined to continue cooperation with the US and is confident that support from the US, as a world leader, one of our largest partners, which has supported us for three years, will continue. We are looking for these opportunities for pragmatic cooperation, based on economic (principles), including an agreement on the joint creation of an investment fund in Ukraine. We are ready to sign it, and we will move in this direction," he said.

At the same time, Shmyhal noted that he has no information about the termination of US arms supplies to Ukraine, at least as of Monday evening, March 3.

"Today, this support is in Ukraine, it continues," he said.

Shmyhal also noted that today Ukraine is actively communicating with all partners regarding attracting funds for Ukrainian weapons production.

He emphasized that Ukraine already produces more than 30% of the weapons, equipment, and ammunition necessary for defense independently, the goal is 50%, and he is confident that Ukraine will achieve it in 2025.

"Of course, the United States is an important military, financial, and political partner of Ukraine and it is important to maintain this partnership, it is important to find ways to work together, we are working on this," he noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier CNN and Bloomberg, citing their own sources, reported that US President Donald Trump instructed to suspend the provision of military assistance to Ukraine after his public quarrel with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which occurred in the Oval Office of the White House on February 28.
