Ukraine exports less to EU and imports more from Asia in January - NBU

Ukraine exported less to the EU and imported more from Asia in January.

This is evidenced by NBU data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In January 2025, in nominal terms, the largest decrease was in exports of goods to the EU countries (by USD 359 million, or 17.7%, and their share in exports of goods decreased from 59.8% in January 2024 to 56.5%) and Asia (by USD 161 million, or 19.8%, and their share decreased from 24% to 22.1%).

At the same time, exports to African countries increased (by USD 78 million, or 33.1%; their share increased from 7% to 10.7%) and CIS countries (by USD 17 million, or 14.4%; their share increased from 3.5% to 4.6%).

In January 2025, imports of goods from Asian countries increased the most in nominal terms (by USD 338 million, or 18.8%; their share increased from 36.4% to 40.1%).

Imports from America also increased (by USD 44 million, or 12.4%; their share increased from 7.2% to 7.5%), Africa (by USD 29 million, or 1.5 times; their share increased from 1.1% to 1.6%) and the CIS (by USD 11 million, or 17.5%; their share in imports of goods increased by 0.1 pp to 1.4%).

In contrast, imports from the EU decreased (by USD 20 million, or 0.9%; their share decreased from 45.7% in January 2024 to 42%).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, imports of goods exceeded exports by USD 29,018.1 million.
