Chief Rabbi of Ukraine criticizes Lavrov for his words about Zelenskyy as "traitor to Jewish people"

Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Azman, who lost his son Anton in the war in Ukraine, has sharply criticized the foreign minister of the aggressor country of russia, Sergey Lavrov, who called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "a disgrace and a traitor to the Jewish people."

Azman published the corresponding post on Facebook.

"I want to say that the Ukrainian people are fighting for their independence and freedom today. You invaded our country, unleashed a war, are killing Ukrainians - and not only Ukrainians, but also citizens of Ukraine of different nationalities: Russians, Jews, Tatars and others, who lived here in peace, freedom and dignity before your invasion," Azman addressed Lavrov.

Rabbi emphasized that there is no ethnic conflict in Ukraine, and the Ukrainian parliament is one of the few in the world that has recognized anti-Semitism as a criminal offense.

"Look at yourself, at your actions and realize that today you are the embodiment of Nazism, trying to destroy entire peoples," Asman emphasized.

He also recalled that the Nazis and modern fascists are the terrorists from Hamas, who committed the terrible massacre on October 7 - the worst tragedy for Jews since the Holocaust.

"And this is exactly Hamas, which you support! Two weeks after their bloody massacre, you received their delegation in Moscow. You welcome representatives of Hamas and Hezbollah, refuse to recognize them as terrorist organizations and even provide them with weapons with which they kill Jewish soldiers in Israel," the Rabbi noted.

Moshe Reuven Azman also mentioned his son Anton, who was killed by the russians. The deceased was survived by a one-month-old daughter - his first and only child.

"As for the "shame on the Jewish people", which you dared to speak about - let's get one thing straight: only the Jewish people themselves decide who is their hero and who is their shame. It is not for you to judge. You can express your opinion in your country, but it is not for you to decide for us. You invaded our country and took his life, just as you took the lives of thousands of innocent people. Wake up. Stop. Come back to yourself. We will pray that the Supreme Judge will give you a fair sentence," the Rabbi concluded.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called for condemnation of Lavrov's statement about Zelenskyy for anti-Semitism.

As reported, in September 2024, the son of the Chief Rabbi was killed at the front, defending Ukraine.
