Ontario Premier Douglas Robert Ford has called on leaders in other regions to cut off electricity to the eastern US states over the 25% tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on Canada.
This was reported by Canadian broadcaster CBC News.
Ford was speaking at a conference of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) when he was asked to comment on Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods.
"If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do everything including cut off their energy with a smile on my face," Ford said.
He called on other Canadian provinces to do the same so that the US "feels the pain."
"In the east, they depend on our energy <...> If they want to act tough, we will respond twice as tough, believe me,” Canadian politician added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 27, US President Donald Trump announced his decision to impose a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico. According to him, drugs are transited through these countries to the US. The tariffs came into effect today.
