Trump increases tariffs on Chinese goods from 10% to 20%

US President Donald Trump has decided to double the tariffs on imports from China planned for April 2025. A few days ago, the American leader promised that their size would be 10%, but the day before he decided to increase them to 20%.

This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to the relevant order published on the White House website.

Last Monday, March 3, journalists asked Trump whether Canada and Mexico could agree to postpone the introduction of 25% tariffs, as happened before.

"There is no room left for Mexico or Canada. Everything is ready. They will come into effect tomorrow," Trump replied.

The 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods are due to come into effect today, March 4.

As for China, Trump previously threatened Beijing with 10% tariffs on goods. They were supposed to come into force at the beginning of next month.

However, yesterday, March 3, the White House website published Trump's order, by which he decided to double tariffs on Chinese goods to 20%.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 27, Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social network that he was going to impose tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China.

According to him, the reason for the imposition of tariffs was drugs. They are produced in China and enter the United States through Canada and Mexico.

As we will recall, on February 26, at a meeting of the US Cabinet, Trump promised to impose a 25% tariff on goods from the European Union.

And in early February, it became known that Trump had imposed a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports for all countries.
