The Ministry of Energy and the Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company do not plan to contact the russians for the maintenance of new units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP, which will be built on the basis of Rosatom reactors.
This was stated in an interview with Ukrainian News Agency by Andrii Zhupanyn, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services.
"I can only say that together with my colleagues - MPs, we raised this issue at a meeting with the Minister of Energy and the management of Energoatom before voting on the bill that opened the way to the purchase of nuclear reactors in Bulgaria. The Minister and representatives of Energoatom assured us that they do not plan to have any contacts with the aggressor country," he said.
Zhupanyn noted that Ukraine has enough resources to make some of the equipment on its own, and we will need to order the rest from European partners, based on the words of the Ministry of Energy and Energoatom.
"At the same time, we (MPs of the relevant committee) were informed that any communication with Rosatom is excluded," he added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada granted permission to the Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company to purchase equipment (nuclear reactors and components) from the National Electric Company of Bulgaria for the construction of power units at the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant.
