Russia reacted with a wave of malicious gloating to the breakdown of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s negotiations in the White House.
The row in the Oval Office was a gift to the kremlin, which is trying to establish ties with the new Trump administration and present Volodymyr Zelenskyy as an illegitimate leader who is incapable of negotiating.
Deputy Chairman of the russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on Telegram, insulting Zelenskyy, that the Ukrainian President "received a solid slap from the masters."
"This is useful. But not enough – we need to stop military aid to the Nazi machine," the former russian president said.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that it was a "miracle of endurance" that "Trump and Vance restrained themselves and did not smear this scum."
"I think Zelenskyy's biggest lie of all his lies is the statement in the White House that the Kyiv regime in 2022 was left alone, without support," the russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman wrote on Telegram.
Konstantin Kosachev, deputy chairman of the upper house of the russian parliament, said that "Zelenskyy lost this round with a deafening crash, and he will have to crawl to the next one on his knees."
"Today in the Oval Office, Zelenskyy continued to lie – about the strength of Ukraine, and about gratitude to America, and about readiness for peace. It didn't work," the russian politician wrote.
