Zelenskyy spoke with Macron and UN Secretary General after clash with Trump — FT

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after a public quarrel with U.S. President Donald Trump, held telephone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The Financial Times reported this, citing a person accompanying Zelenskyy in Washington.

An unnamed source told the publication that Zelenskyy spoke with Macron after he had a brief conversation with Trump behind closed doors at the White House.

The source said that Zelenskyy also spoke with NATO Secretary General Rutte.

The source did not provide any details of what Zelenskyy talked about with Macron and Rutte.

The Financial Times also writes that the Ukrainian President had a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council António Costa.

Costa expressed "the EU's support for Ukraine."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 28, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington to meet with Donald Trump.

The main purpose of the Ukrainian President's visit was to sign a mineral agreement. The Ukrainian President also planned to give a speech at the Hudson Institute.

However, during the public part of the meeting, Zelenskyy got into a heated argument with Trump over Washington's soft approach to russian dictator vladimir putin.

Later, Zelenskyy and Trump had a closed-door conversation, but it did not last long. As it later became known, the Ukrainian President left the White House early.

Some time later, Zelenskyy published a message on social networks in which he stated that Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace.
