During February 2025, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine codified and admitted to operation in the Defense Forces over 100 new models of weapons and military equipment. Of these, over 90 percent are domestically produced.
This is reported by the official portal of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
For comparison, last year, about 60 models of weapons and military equipment were codified during the same period, and only about a third of them were of Ukrainian production.
Among the new models of weapons and military equipment that underwent codification in February, in particular, unmanned aerial systems, ammunition for them, electronic warfare systems, nuclear weapons, motor vehicles, aviation equipment, etc.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 10 new models of unmanned aerial systems with a fiber-optic control channel have already been codified and admitted to operation in the Defense Forces.
"Innovative weapons are rapidly changing the picture of war. Aerial drones provide reconnaissance, situational control of the battlefield, and themselves act as means of destroying enemy targets. Currently, drones worth USD 500 are destroying enemy targets worth tens, or even hundreds, of thousands of dollars," said Deputy Defense Minister Valerii Churkin.
According to Valerii Churkin, in order to effectively combat a resource-rich aggressor country, we must achieve dominance in the development of new instruments of war and their scaling.
"We must win the technological race against the enemy. Ukrainian drones, electronic warfare systems, reconnaissance, and weapons of destruction must outperform enemy models in terms of their performance characteristics. The arithmetic of war in our case is about increasing lethality and the efficiency of using weapons," added the Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine.
