Ban on leaving artists and journalists is temporary, applications are not being considered at the moment - Culture Ministry

The ban on leaving media workers and artists is temporary, the provision of letters of assistance for leaving is currently suspended until the procedure is settled.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.

"From March 3, 2025, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine temporarily suspends the provision of letters of assistance for leaving abroad for artists and media workers who are on military service. This is a forced step aimed at settling the procedure, which would allow in the future to avoid abuse of the goals of cultural diplomacy," the ICSC noted.

They added that at present all letters of request for leaving are not being considered. The ministry claims that media workers and artists will be able to leave abroad again after the government makes the appropriate changes to the government resolution.

The Ministry of Culture stated that they are interested in resolving the issue as soon as possible. After all, artists and media workers can support Ukraine through international events and convey the truth about the events in the country.

"The decision will be made by the government. The ICSC will inform about further steps after the adoption of new rules," the ministry noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Border Service previously announced how artists and journalists will travel abroad.

Since March, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications has suspended approval of artists and media workers' travel abroad.
