President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his planned visit to the U.S. wants to hear that U.S. aid to Ukraine will not be stopped.
Zelenskyy said this during a briefing, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"I really want the visit, because the issue is important to me. It is important for the President of America to open steps forward with an agreement, and for me it is very important do you know what to hear? That aid, here we are... That U.S. aid will not be stopped not later, but now. And I need it for our people. I need it a lot, and for me this is the main thesis for today," he said.
At the same time, according to Zelenskyy, the final date of his visit to the U.S. has not yet been determined, there is a "working" version of February 28, voiced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Regarding the visit. We were offered, but I want to get… the offices are working, what format, when. There is a working date, which the U.S. President said is Friday, the offices are in touch," he said.
According to Zelenskyy, the final version of the agreement with the U.S. on minerals, which is planned to be signed during his visit to the U.S., does not provide for any "debts" from Ukraine.
He also noted that the U.S. and Ukraine will be partners in the investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, the creation of which is mentioned in the agreement.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on Wednesday, February 26, that the agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. on minerals has been prepared, it is directly tied to security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to Shmyhal, on February 26, the government will consider the text of this agreement and authorize ministers to sign it later during the negotiations between the Presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. on security guarantees.
According to American media reports, U.S. President Donald Trump is expecting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit the U.S. on February 28 to sign a mineral extraction agreement.
