Putin wants to mine rare earth metals in occupied Ukrainian territories and invites US to cooperate

Russian dictator vladimir putin believes that russia will be able to develop rare earth metal deposits in occupied Ukrainian territories, and the kremlin leader sees the U.S. as a mining partner.

He stated this in an interview with russian media after a meeting on rare earth metals, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The kremlin leader said that rare earth metals are critically important for microelectronics, energy, the digital economy, as well as for the civilian and defense sectors of russia.

He believes that the development of this industry will help the russian federation grow its economy.

According to him, russia has some of the largest deposits in the world in the north of the country, as well as in the Caucasus, Siberia, the Far East and the "new territories", meaning the occupied territories of Ukraine.

"We would be happy to work together with any foreign partners, including American ones. As for new territories, the same. We are ready to attract foreign partners to the so-called new historical territories of ours that have returned to the Russian Federation," putin said.

In addition, according to him, russia can implement joint projects with the United States, in particular, in aluminum mining in the Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Putin said that russia would be ready to supply the United States with up to 2 million tons of aluminum per year.

At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump, at a briefing with French President Emmanuel Macron, spoke about a possible economic agreement between the United States and russia.

"They have a lot of what we want... They have huge reserves of rare earth metals, it's a huge territory... They have very valuable things that we would need, and we have things that they would need. It would be great if we could reach an agreement," Trump said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 24, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration - Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna said that the Ukrainian and U.S. teams are in the final stages of negotiations on an agreement on Ukrainian minerals.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that he is negotiating with russian dictator vladimir putin to end the war he started in Ukraine.
