Russia calls explosion near russian consulate in France "terrorism"

On Monday, February 24, the anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, bottles with an incendiary mixture were thrown at the russian consulate in Marseille, which, according to Moscow, had "all the signs of a terrorist act."

Thus, according to the Marseille police, three explosive devices were thrown along the perimeter of the wall of the building in the southern French port city, two of which exploded. The plastic bottles landed in the garden of the consulate.

The Russian Consul General, Stanislav Oransky, said on Monday that an explosion had occurred in the building. The suspect fled, and an investigation has been launched.

The French Interior Ministry said that no one was injured in the explosion, all employees and the russian consul were unharmed.

A bomb disposal expert and 38 firefighters were called to the scene. Moscow demanded that France conduct a full investigation.

"The explosions on the territory of the russian Consulate General in Marseille have all the signs of a terrorist act," said russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, an explosion occurred near the consulate of the aggressor country, russia, in the city of Marseille (France).
