Ukrainian government will have expert group working on agreement with US on subsoil and guarantees – Verkhovna Rada Speaker Stefanchuk

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk claims that after the meeting of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the U.S. President's Special Envoy for Ukraine and the russian federation Keith Kellogg, work on an agreement with the U.S. President's administration on Ukrainian subsoil and U.S. security guarantees will continue.

According to the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), Stefanchuk said in an interview with NHK that from the beginning of next week the Ukrainian government will begin serious work on concluding such an agreement.

Stefanchuk, who is close to Zelenskyy, told NHK that from Monday an expert group will work in the Ukrainian government to work on signing an agreement with the United States.

According to the Speaker of the Rada, Ukraine is ready to work with partners on minerals, but wants to receive specific security guarantees, indicating that rights and interests must go along with them.

Stefanchuk said that Ukraine intends to have constructive discussions and seeks to hold a summit with the United States as soon as possible.

"Regarding Trump's comment that Ukraine needs to hold presidential elections, Stefanchuk said that Ukrainian law clearly states that elections cannot be held during martial law. He said that it is impossible to hold fair elections while the Russian invasion is ongoing, since the military will not be able to take part in them," NHK reported.

Stefanchuk, according to NHK, noted that in order to end the war, russia must not only withdraw from Ukrainian territory and return its lands, but also be held accountable and pay reparations to all those who suffered during the war.
