Ukrainians abroad withdraw almost 2 times more cash than in Ukraine.
This is evidenced by NBU data, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

It is noted that the average amount of a cash withdrawal transaction from cards through ATMs last year increased by 19% to UAH 5,034.
At the same time, twice as much money is withdrawn from Ukrainian bank cards abroad at one time, on average – UAH 8,791.
The share of cash transactions with payment cards in the 4th quarter of last year stopped decreasing.
They account for 5.2% of the total number of payment card transactions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the National Bank explained the reasons for the significant increase in demand for cash currency.
Last year, demand for cash currency increased significantly.
This is due to important changes at the end of 2023. Then the NBU lifted restrictions on the sale of cash currency by banks. If earlier banks could sell a limited amount of cash currency, then from December 2023 the NBU lifted any limits.
From February 1, banks in Ukraine introduced limits on money transfers for clients. These are funds sent to each other by individuals using IBAN details. The largest banks in Ukraine signed a corresponding memorandum.
The innovation will apply only to clients who do not have documented income. Banks will classify them into three risk groups: "high", "medium" and "low".
For clients with a "high" risk level, the limit will be UAH 50,000 per month.
For "medium" and "low" risk groups, the restrictions will apply in two stages:
from February 1, 2025 - up to UAH 150,000,
from June 1, 2025 - up to UAH 100,000.
