Potentially, there are 800,000 18-25-year-old Ukrainians in Ukraine who can join the Armed Forces of Ukraine through a contract, this is more than enough for the needs of the army, but this does not mean that they want to fill all the vacant positions in the Armed Forces with them.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa said this on the air of a telethon, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"In general, the target audience from 18 to 24 is almost 800,000 people... This is more than enough, but this does not mean that we want to fill all the vacant positions in the Armed Forces with the category 18-24," he said.
Palisa emphasized that the "18-24" contract gives people who are not subject to mobilization the opportunity to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of their own free will. According to him, a similar contract will be developed for other categories too.
"We are working on increasing the target audience of contracts. First of all, the next one will be a contract for those citizens who were dismissed, had the opportunity, the legal right to be dismissed before the adoption of the law on mobilization, who have the right to a deferral, who are even reserved. First of all, we want to create a competitive employer in the labor market of Ukraine in the image of the Armed Forces," he said.
According to Palisa, the contract will further offer a wider choice of military specialties, in particular, drone units, possibly mechanics, drivers, units of combat vehicle crews will be added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 11, the Ministry of Defense officially launched the "Contract 18-24" project - an initiative for volunteers aged 18-24 who are ready to join the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The 1-year contract provides for a reward of UAH 1 million, the possibility of a "zero" mortgage, education at state expense, free medical care, in particular, dental prosthetics, the right to travel abroad after a year of service, guaranteed exemption from mobilization for 12 months after the end of the contract.
The Office of the President is preparing to introduce contracts for mobilized people with a clear term of service.
