Household deposits in banks up by 0.2% to record-breaking UAH 1,215 billion in January

According to operational data, the volume of funds placed by individuals in bank accounts in hryvnia and foreign currency increased by 0.2% to a record-breaking UAH 1,214.992 billion in January.

This is evidenced by data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In 2024, the volume of household deposits in banks increased by 12.6% from UAH 1,078.346 billion.

Household hryvnia deposits in banks in January remained at the level of UAH 794.697 billion.

At the same time, the volume of household foreign currency deposits in hryvnia equivalent in the reporting month increased by 0.5% to UAH 420.295 billion.

Deposits of legal entities (hryvnia and foreign currency) decreased by 3.5% in January to UAH 1,461.400 billion.

The average interest rate on hryvnia deposits (monthly average) in the reporting month for legal entities increased by 0.3 pp to 8.7%, for individuals increased by 0.2 pp to 10.5%.

The rate on foreign currency deposits for legal entities was 0.8%, for the population - 1%.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2023, the volume of population deposits in banks increased by 16.5% from UAH 926.488 billion.

In 2022, population deposits in banks increased by 29.3% from UAH 719.418 billion.

In 2021, household deposits in banks increased by 6.8% from UAH 674.718 billion to UAH 720.932 billion.
