Starting tomorrow at 9:00a.m., loudspeakers will announce a minute of silence on Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv.
Th e Kyiv City State Administration has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"A minute of silence is planned to be announced daily at 9:00 a.m. on Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Khreshchatyk Street starting tomorrow," the message says.
It is noted that today, February 18, at 3:30 p.m., loudspeakers were tested on Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Khreshchatyk, announcing a minute of silence.
In January, the Kyiv City Council approved a list of measures for holding a daily nationwide minute of silence.
The beginning of the minute of silence will be announced in public transport, as well as through sound notification systems on Khreshchatyk and Maidan Nezalezhnosti, on advertising media and through the Kyiv Digital mobile application.
In addition, institutions, establishments and organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, are recommended to suspend work for a minute, except in cases where this is impossible due to continuous operation or the need to carry out urgent measures.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the capital's ground public transport will inform about the nationwide minute of silence without stopping traffic every day.
In March 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a nationwide minute of silence every morning at 09:00 a.m. throughout Ukraine to honor those killed in the war unleashed by russia against Ukraine.
