British military accuses Ukrainian army of wastefulness with Western weapons provided to it – media

British military personnel involved in training Ukrainian Defense Forces soldiers criticize the Ukrainian army for allegedly being extremely wasteful in the use of weapons supplied by Western countries.

This is stated in the material of the British publication The Telegraph.

The Ukrainian military is supposed to combine weapons provided by the West with Soviet-style tactics, which led to the waste of a significant amount of weapons.

A British soldier who trained Ukrainian soldiers in Ukraine said that the Ukrainian military uses NLAW anti-tank missile systems like "cheap Russian rocket-propelled grenade launchers."

NLAW is a disposable anti-tank missile that costs about GBP 20,000 sterling per unit. It is designed for precision strikes on enemy armored vehicles. The UK has supplied Kyiv with more than 5,000 of such systems.

According to the source, the Ukrainians were supposed to provide videos of the correct use of the weapons, but the footage shows them "wildly firing five or six NLAWs" at the russians at the same time.

The British military was also irritated by the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces repeatedly threw Western weapons onto the battlefield.

As an example, they cite the Javelin portable anti-tank missile systems, which can be reused. The price of one missile is over USD 100,000.

NATO armies allegedly adhere to the principle of "nothing gets left behind" in terms of equipment and weapons due to their high cost and doctrinal importance.

The source claims that as a result of the retreat of the Ukrainian military, a "relatively large quantities" of Javelin complexes fell into the hands of the russians.

"The Russian army probably has more Javelins than the British Army now," the source says.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in January of this year, The Economist wrote that Ukraine's allies are unhappy with the situation surrounding the 155th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The unit, on training and equipping which France spent about USD 900 million, disintegrated due to a large number of cases of truancy and the sending of its units to reinforce other brigades at the front.
