Spain said that it is too early to talk about the deployment of troops in Ukraine after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his readiness to deploy troops in the country to ensure the implementation of any peace agreement.
This is reported by Reuters.
"It is too early at this time to speak about deploying troops to Ukraine as there is no peace at the moment," Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares told reporters ahead of an emergency summit of European leaders on the Ukraine war.
Recall that earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his readiness to deploy British troops in Ukraine to ensure the implementation of a future peace agreement.
According to The Telegraph, his statement is partly related to signals from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump during the Munich Conference. American officials have made it clear that European countries should strengthen their own security.
"A war of aggression cannot be rewarded, we cannot encourage others to launch wars of aggression. Today I'm convinced Putin will keep attacking and bombing Ukraine. So I do not see peace on the horizon at the moment," Albarez said in an interview with Onda Cero radio station.
