Saudi Arabia will become not only a venue for future negotiations between representatives of the United States of America and the aggressor country russia regarding the war in Ukraine, but also a mediator between the countries.
The American channel CNN wrote about this with reference to an unnamed Saudi official.
According to him, Riyadh will not only receive guests, but also perform mediation functions at the negotiations between representatives of the United States and russia.
He added that the Saudi team will be led by the country's national security adviser.
CNN also writes that, according to numerous sources, negotiations between American and russian officials will begin on Tuesday, February 18.
The United States will be represented at the negotiations by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and national security adviser Mike Waltz.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early February, Reuters wrote that russian dictator vladimir putin is considering Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates as a place to hold talks.
Recall, on February 14, U.S. President Donald Trump said that talks between representatives of Ukraine and russia on ending the war would be held in Saudi Arabia.
Yesterday, February 16, BBC News wrote, citing sources, that Ukraine was not invited to talks between the U.S. and russia in Saudi Arabia.
