The foreign ministers of the G7 countries agreed to continue joint work to achieve a solid peace agreement for Ukraine with reliable security guarantees.
They also agreed that future sanctions against russia should be linked to Moscow's participation in the negotiation process to end the war, Reuters writes.
"Any new, additional sanctions after February should be linked to whether the russian federation begins real, conscientious efforts to end the war against Ukraine, which will ensure Ukraine's long-term security and stability as a sovereign, independent country," the joint statement of the foreign ministers of the G7 countries says.
The agency emphasized that this statement was also supported by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
It is noted that representatives of the G7 countries expressed their readiness to work together to achieve a lasting peace through joint efforts. They also agreed that Ukraine needs to be given reliable security guarantees so that the war does not start again.
