The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has opened criminal proceedings into the russian attack on the shelter of the 4th power unit of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The press service of the agency has reported this.
"Currently, the radiation background in the territory of the Chornobyl NPP and in the exclusion zone does not exceed permissible values. No release of radioactive substances beyond the established limits has been recorded," the report says.
Inside and near the shelter, the SSU found wreckage of the hull of a russian drone with a warhead and serial number. According to the investigation, the invaders attacked the Chornobyl NPP with a kamikaze drone called Geran-2 of the Shahed type.
"For maximum fire damage, this strike drone was equipped with a high-explosive warhead. According to experts, the terrorists targeted this facility," the SSU said.
The hit damaged the shelter structure. Comprehensive measures are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the russian federation's crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Recall that Ukraine called on the IAEA and the world community to immediately step up efforts to prevent russian attacks on nuclear facilities after the strike on the shelter arch of the 4th power unit of the Chornobyl NPP.
