The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree on the sanctions of the National Security and Defense Council against former president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Also among those who were sanctioned are Ihor Kolomoiskyi, Hennadii Boholiubov, Viktor Medvedchuk and Kostiantyn Zhevaho.
This became known from the presidential decree.
The personal sanctions concern the former president of Ukraine and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko, billionaire Ihor Kolomoiskyi and former head of the Opposition Party – For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk.
In addition, sanctions were also imposed against Kostiantyn Zhevaho - a former MP and owner of the Finance and Credit bank, as well as against Hennadii Boholiubov - a Ukrainian billionaire and co-founder of PrivatBank.
The sanctions include deprivation of state awards, blocking of assets, restrictions on trade transactions, a ban on the acquisition of land plots, etc.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the evening of February 12, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions against former president of Ukraine, MP and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko at a meeting.
The ex-president stated that the introduction of sanctions was not news to him, because he had all the information about their preparation.
Poroshenko called the decision "unconstitutional" and "politically motivated." He also called the current President of Ukraine the "customer, executor and signatory" of the sanctions.
