Ukraine maintained its gas imports at a high level of 16.3 million cubic meters on Sunday, continuing procurement on the EU market.
Ekonomichna Pravda reported this with reference to Reuters.
According to the data, Ukraine imports 7.1 million cubic meters of gas from Hungary, 7.3 million cubic meters from Slovakia and 1.8 million cubic meters from Poland.
According to the agency, Ukraine began to sharply increase gas imports last week after russia launched a series of missile strikes on Ukrainian gas sector facilities in recent months.
In January, russia launched dozens of missiles and drones in the western part of the Lviv Region, where gas storage facilities are located, and in the Kharkiv Region, the main gas production region in Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Naftogaz group, which assured that it would pass the winter without imports, urgently purchased about 150 million cubic meters of gas in the European Union for February.
The former head of the GTS Operator of Ukraine, Serhii Makohon, noted in early February that this is almost 2 times more expensive than it could be bought in the summer.
