German Chancellor Scholz spoken out against deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine - media

The German Chancellor has said that he does not support the idea of deploying peacekeepers to Ukraine. Olaf Scholz explained this by saying that such a mission would not mean the end of the war, but peace imposed on Ukrainians.

In recent months, the question of whether a peacekeeping contingent from individual European countries could be deployed to Ukraine has been repeatedly raised in Europe. But not everyone supports such an idea. Thus, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized the proposal to deploy peacekeepers to Ukrainian territory and explained why he does not consider it necessary.

He said this in an interview with the German publication RND. When asked by a journalist why Germany refuses to participate in the creation of a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, Scholz said that it is too early to have such conversations at this time.

"I consider such disputes inappropriate and premature. This is due to the fact that it assumes that Ukraine will not return the territories occupied by russia. I am quite serious when I say that nothing can be solved at the expense of the Ukrainian people," the Chancellor said.

According to Olaf Scholz, first of all, it is necessary to put a real end to the war and start real negotiations, and not impose peace on Ukraine. He expressed confidence that this is how future security guarantees for Ukrainians will be seen.

At the same time, the Federal Chancellor emphasized that Kyiv will not be able to maintain its army on its own, so all "friends of Ukraine" will come to the rescue. He also criticized Donald Trump, who offers to help Ukrainians in exchange for the use of rare earth metals.

"Ukraine is being attacked, and we support it without asking for anything. Everyone should have this attitude," Scholz said.
