On February 6, the Energy Customs successfully completed the registration of a periodic customs declaration for the movement of the first batch of biomethane across the customs border of Ukraine for export to Europe by pipeline.
The Energy Customs announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The report states that this became possible thanks to the painstaking work on amending the legislation of Ukraine related to customs control and customs clearance of biomethane, which was carried out over two years.
“This is not just an important step in the development of green energy and strengthening the energy security of the region. This is a significant breakthrough for Ukraine on the path to energy independence and European integration,” the report says.
It is noted that Ukraine has enormous potential for biomethane production and can be an important supplier of green energy to the European market.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early May 2023, the state enterprise UkrNDNTs adopted a state standard for injecting biomethane into gas networks - both distribution and main.
