ICC condemns US sanctions against it

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has condemned the imposition of sanctions against it by the United States of America and stressed that it stands by its staff. The ICC has vowed to continue to ensure justice.

This is announced in a statement by the International Criminal Court.

"The ICC condemns the issuance by the United States of an executive order that aims to impose sanctions against its officials and undermine its independent and impartial judicial work," the statement said.

The ICC said it stands firmly by its staff and promises to continue to ensure justice and "give hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities around the world in all situations before it."

"We call on our 125 states parties, civil society and all nations of the world to unite for justice and fundamental human rights," the Court concluded.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court, accusing it of biased actions against the US and Israel.

Recall that on November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas leader Ibrahim al-Masri for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, on January 1, 2025, Ukraine became the 125th state party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court: what you need to know.
