The army of the aggressor country russia has become less likely to use tanks and armored combat vehicles on the front line in the Donetsk Region. This is due to the vulnerability of the equipment to strikes by FPV drones.
Viktor Trehubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, stated this on the air of Suspilne.Studiia.
According to him, at the current stage of the war, armored vehicles are extremely rarely used for breakthroughs or fire damage. Moreover, this trend is observed on both sides.
The reason lies in the widespread use of FPV drones by both the Ukrainian military and the russian occupiers.
"A large number of FPVs, an FPV-saturated front on both sides, and tanks do not live on it for long, no matter what you hang on it, no matter how many grilles you weld on. AFVs also: stopped - died," Trehubov said.
He added that armored vehicles are not being used on the Pokrovsk axis, the most active section of the front. For the russians, the speaker emphasized, it is more profitable to use infantry and light transport to storm Ukrainian positions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early January it became known that the russians began using FPV drones with so-called "mangals".
And shortly before that, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that the problem for the Ukrainian military is created by russian FPV drones with fiber-optic cable.
