The stock market in Ukraine is virtually absent due to the insolvency of the National Commission for Securities and Stock Market (Securities Commission).
This was stated in an interview with Ukrainian News Agency by Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy.
"Regarding the stock market. We can talk not about a "revival", but about the creation of a market in general, because in fact the activities of the regulator in this area have led to the fact that we have a stock market that is virtually absent," he is convinced.
Hetmantsev is convinced that the institutional insolvency of the Securities Commission is obvious to domestic and international experts.
In his opinion, the significant decline in registered joint-stock companies that do not see an opportunity to raise money is only a consequence of the helplessness of the Securities Commission.
"Let's remember the Freedom Finance case, which in itself undermined trust in the stock market on a par with the financial pyramids of the 90s. Full responsibility for this case lies with the National Commission. Unfortunately, the regulator has removed itself. There is no leading position in organizing the stock market. Therefore, the prospects for the development of the stock market with the current composition of the Commission look increasingly illusory," he summarized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans' Rights, a Verkhovna Rada member from the Batkivshchyna faction, Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk, emphasized that in order to launch the accumulative system, it is necessary to restore the stock market in Ukraine.
In 2021, Ruslan Mahomedov was appointed Chairman of the National Commission for Securities and Stock Market.
