Scandal around Meduza. Berlin agency Lure removes content with footage of war in Ukraine, russian media silent

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demands to remove the advertisement of the russian publication Meduza, which uses footage of relatives of deceased Ukrainians and destroyed Ukrainian cities.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported this.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the demonstration of images of Ukrainians who suffered as a result of Russian terror in the advertisement of the Russian media. A special "award" for marketing cynicism and hypocrisy should be given to the Lure agency from Berlin. They showed Ukrainians who lost their families and homes in an advertisement for the Russian publication Meduza. Using our tragedy to arouse sympathy for Russians is a complete disgrace," the message says.

The Foreign Ministry demands to remove all advertisements that exploit Ukrainian suffering, the cause of which was the russians. They also demand an apology to the Ukrainians whose footage was used in the russian media's advertising.

ADVERTISING

According to Detector Media, the first to report the Meduza advertisement was Viktoria Feshak, a member of the Ukrainian NGO Viche Berlin. She came to a Berlin cinema and saw the Meduza advertisement before the film. There were shots of Yaroslav Bazylevich, a man who lost his wife and three daughters during a russian missile attack on Lviv. There were also shots of a woman crying near a house in Bucha and a destroyed high-rise building in Borodianka. Next to it was the caption "Where other headlines end, Meduza begins".

It turned out that this is how the russian publication Meduza, which is currently in Latvia, advertises its fundraising campaign. The video was created by the Berlin agency Lure. The agency did not charge any money for its services. As of the morning of February 2, the agency had already removed the scandalous content from its website. However, the video remained on Meduza's YouTube channel. In addition, the Lure agency deleted the post with Yaroslav Bazylevych's photo, but left the rest of the advertising content. Indignant comments are being left under the publication.

Currently, Meduza has not commented on the scandal with the use of footage of the war in Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the scandalous American journalist Tucker Carlson made a brazen statement against the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling him a "dictator" and a "lackey."
