Last year was a record for the Ukrainian agrarian sector, which provided USD 24.7 billion in foreign exchange earnings - the second highest figure in the country's history.
The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitalii Koval stated this during the Ukrainian Grain Conference, which brought together more than 1,000 agricultural producers and processors.
"Moreover, in a war year, agrarians were able to provide 59% of foreign exchange earnings in the country. This is about the stability and support of the Ukrainian economy," Koval emphasized, thanking the agrarians for their work.
According to the minister, an important task for 2025 is the development of deep processing - a strategic direction that will allow increasing the number of products with high added value.
Another key priority is the restoration of livestock farming, which will help balance crop production and make the agricultural sector more sustainable. Koval noted that Ukrainian grain should be converted through feed and livestock, contributing to the growth of milk and meat production. The minister recalled that one Ukrainian hectare of land feeds 18 people in the world, and in general, 400 million people depend on Ukrainian food. However, this figure can be increased to 600 million if cooperation between the state, agricultural producers, processors and livestock farmers is strengthened.
