Rules Committee recommends Rada suspend Poroshenko

The Verkhovna Rada Rules Committee recommended that the Parliament adopt a decision to suspend former President, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko from plenary sessions for six months.

This was announced on its Telegram channel by the co-chair of the faction of the same name, Iryna Herashchenko, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The Rules Committee recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt a decision to suspend P. Poroshenko from plenary sessions for six months. For the entire 13th session. The “Servants” and “Opposition Platform” voted for this," she wrote.

MP from the same faction, Sofia Fedyna, published a video of the committee meeting on Facebook, during which Poroshenko's suspension was considered.

The proposal to remove Poroshenko was proposed by MP from the Servant of the People faction, Mykyta Poturaiev, and 39 other MPs, who sent such a letter to the committee the day before.

The reason for the proposal to remove Poroshenko was the situation during the plenary session on December 19, at which a clash took place between the Servant of the People and European Solidarity.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on December 19, 2024, a verbal and sometimes physical clash took place between MPs of the European Solidarity and Servant of the People.
